Let’s go out and photograph kingfishers!
We will meet at 7:45am, at the BirdLife Naturzentrum Klingnauer Stausee (https://www.naturzentrum-klingnauerstausee.ch/) .
Located in 5314 Böttstein, next to the river Aare, close to the German border at Koblenz / Waldshut.
In this event, we will have exclusive use of the hide at the BirdLife centre for 1hr before normal opening hours to photograph kingfishers.
Bear in mind that the birds are wild, not captive, but the purpose-built pond is designed to attract them and provide suitable nesting locations, so we hope to see them!
After the opening hours, you can see some exhibitions or explore other nature attractions nearby (the admission to the BirdLife Centre is included in the price). There is also a cafe where we can rest and have a drink.
You should bring along:
- Your camera with minimum 300mm (full format equivalent) lens
- Warm clothes
This event is open for members and non-members of PICZ, and beginners /newcomers are welcome to join.
Price per person: 20 CHF
How to arrive:
- By public transport, the nearest bus stops are “Kleindöttingen, Zentrum” and “Kleindöttingen, Burlen”. The closest train station is Döttingen, 20 min walk from the centre (check the map attached).
- By car, the official parking place is 10-15 min walk from the centre (check the map attached).
